To test the speakers, I used MP3 files and found that the speakers performed beautifully only in certain genres. The X1 hit the low bass beats of rap and the high notes of pop music with ease but what I really found lackings were the mid of Jazz.
As with most satellite-subwoofer speaker systems, the challenge is in distribution of frequencies to the correct speakers. This is primarily where the speaker system failked-there were virtually no mids in the music. On the upside, since the lows and high are distinct and powerful, these speakers are suited to gaming.
Probably the only good feature of these speakers is their size and look. With each speaker only 15.5cm high, this unit is quite unobtrusive. The subwoofer is 210mm and has a brushed charcoal color, with a black grill-a welcome change from the monotonous beige in the computer industry.
Other improvements Logitech could make on these speakers is to have the bass adjuster on one of the satellite speakers instead of the subwoofer, and strengthen the volume knob on the satellite speaker.
