Pros: Crystal clear realistic sound, pretty as a picture
Cons: No remote control puck with my set, no support for the advanced features of the SB Live soundcard

I got this system due to a brief review I read that rated them highly. The review also rated the Cambridge SoundWorks package highly. I chose the Monsoon set because they look simpler and sleeker.
The MM-1000 system consists of a 50 watt subwoofer and two flat pane table speakers. There is supposed to be a "remote control" puck to adjust the volume without having to twiddle with the controls on the subwoofer, but apparently they left that inessential goody out of my box. Nevertheless the speakers sound gorgeous with transparent highs and the subwoofer gives the system some awfully good thump (when paired with a good soundcard, like the SoundBlaster Live.) Midrange is nice too.
The soundcard and speakers give me a very immersive sensation. I feel in the midst of the sound, instead of in front of some loudspeakers.
Setup was super simple: connect the flat panels to the subwoofer. Connect the power supply to the subwoofer. Plug the sound card output into the subwoofer, and you are in business.
The controls on the subwoofer are very straightforward. There does not appear to be an On/Off control nor a mute; you merely turn the whole rig off with your surge protector/strip or you turn the volume down to near zero (there's always a very tiny amount of residual sound.) There is a Bass Boost control which I like and an auxiliary input for another line level input.
The speaker wires are generous in length which, of course, shocked me :)
Yes, placement of these babies with respect to the listener is important, but that placement is easily accomplished in my opinion.
And yes, they are VERY pretty :)
Your mileage may vary...
