The sound that these speakers emit are just amazing. How can computer speakers which are designed for multimedia purposes sound so beautiful? Just listen to your favorite song through these speakers and you will be truly amazed.
Yamaha is a well known and popular electronics company and its no surprise that these speakers live up to its name. The small speakers come in handy for me because I have no room on my computer desk to place gigantic speakers. The subwoofer is no problem because I can place it on the floor where it doesn't get in the way and still produce amazing bass. Probably the only thing wrong with these speakers is how unwieldy the subwoofer is. I also have the YST-MS30 speakers which have a smaller subwoofer (30 watts), but I prefer the MS50 because it provides more power at the cost of more room and money. Another beautiful quality about the speakers is that they won't distort even if you crank them up. The amazingly powerful subwoofer can handle a lot...unless you try to crank it up to its max.
Bottom line: The sound is excellent and the subwoofer provides plenty of bass. If I were you, I would buy these not for the computer, but as a stereo system. Just hook it up to a portable CD player or walkman and you'll have your own powerful stereo system. These speakers can outperform those $300 boombox/stereos because those expensive systems don't have a subwoofer specifically designed for bass.
