I have worked with computers for over ten years and I have to say that this speaker system beats any other system I have personally owned or had. I once had one of the four-speaker systems from Creative Labs ($200 or so) and this system blows that out of the water.
The other reviewers are correct about the subwoofer; I leave it at 5 (out of 10) just because the base is too high for correct representation of music at anything higher. The satellite speakers produce sound that I honestly cannot believe...playing variable bit-rate MP3's sounds as good as an shelf stereo system I have heard.
Quality of workmanship is outstanding...as just about everything from Yamaha is. Everything feels substantial and sturdy, especially the subwoofer.
Overall a great system, I am extremely happy with the system.
