Pros: Small size & price vs. BIG sound. Several inputs. Good quality and looks.
Cons: Split controls and occationally "booming" bass for some audio sources. Incredibly protruding rear plugs.
The Bottom Line: Keenly priced excellent sounding quality 3-speakers most people will enjoy listen to most the time! Get a set...

- Plus:
Small price (at about $120.00 US) and impressive "big sound" performance. Despite a compact size, it provides a surprisingly big "HiFi sound". I have several audio inputs and "LOOKS" if you also have a conservative taste like me.
- Minus:
Incredibly protruding rear plug-in connections that are particularly annoying at the back of such tiny speakers that would otherwise be really easy to place on any desktop. These crazy connectors protrude about two inches on a speaker that is only about four inches deep! Old fashion jam-clips did not protrude at all on old huge speakers.
Sometimes the center-unit produces an excessive "booming" bass depending on the "quality" (lack of it) of the audio source.
- Suggested improvements:
Some ability to "electronically self-adjust" to poorly produced audio material would be a "boon" for such powerful unit. What the message printed cheerfully on the front of the speakers ("Advanced Y.S.T.”) mean is unclear to me. Also the mid-range feels a little weak and would benefit with somewhat bigger mid-range cones.
Maybe position the audio lead connectors on top/front, projecting backwards without reaching beyond the rear of the speakers, or use permanently attached connectors with a short "lead-in" on all three speakers. That would make them easier to place!
The two volume controls are split between left small speaker and the bass-driver. I think it would be much better if all controls were located on just one panel, maybe a small "remote" control. Maybe Yamaha can produce a new system using the exact same "boom-box" that really packs a good punch low-down.
-Conclusion:
Great value speakers that really have flared my ears wide open to what my laptop computer audio-card is capable of. I'm putting all my CD's (100 plus and some borrowed..) on my 20 GB hard disk and then.... ENJOY!
