Heres your examples of what PSP lacks in compared to photoshop.

for starters:
- transparencies don't work worth a ...well..you know... in PSP
- paths (psp has paths, but jasc considers them "vector" (NOT - vector graphics have NO PIXEL LINES...all smooth..even when zoomed in 1000x) and they're not nearly as usable as with photoshop
- actions (custom sequences - they save lots of time)
- hardly any brush options (no custom brushes)
- hardly any options for working with channels
- no smudge tool
- no history brush
- customization of a psd file is lost if opened with PSP (that sucks)
- no CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) color mode/channels
- no lab colors (unless they're hidden in the pathetic menu system)

all this after ONE HOUR of working with psp and having photoshop closed
one hour is all i could take
a newbie could jump in and make something in psp much easier then he could in photoshop - but if that same newbie were to jump into photoshop rather then messin with psp he'd be comfortable after a week, and he'd have tons more capabilities.

If you want the best, get photoshop. Its the standard in graphics today. Think about it...if it wasn't the best...the worlds greatest designers wouldn't use it!!!
