When worldspy was gone, I was thinking, well, good thing I still had freeweb, well, weeks later, freeweb's gone too. Now most free ISPs still in the business either have annoying ad banner or charge a fee other than monthly service fee(in various format). The next best thing is no doubt 1NationOnline, www.1nol.com.
One thing everyone hates about 1nol is its dialer software, yup, my download is 7Mb, took 30 minutes on a 56K(not so bad if you already download lots of stuff), after that, all is very smooth. One thing I can assure you is that not like some folks said, the dialer program is NOT a virus or trojan, not even a spyware. It WON'T modify your registry(I mean with bad intentions). After all, a trojan is designed to get into your computer without being noticed, if even an average user can feel the difference, well, then it's useless. Keep in mind the dialer do change a few things, if you let it to change. So if you like your current settings, then when you are installing the software, simply let it to leave you alone. Don't let it modify your outlook express, you can always add POP later. Looking deeper into the software, it's actually very well designed: it creates a new DUN everytime you start the dialer, minimizes the chance that DUN gets modified; it checks your browser to make sure 1nol.com is the homepage, BUTit DO NOT change the default settings, so if you use other ISP you can use any page as your homepage. It's not a very unreasonable thing to do, remember worldspy? it too bought you to its web site everytime you used its software.
1nol offers fast speed, plenty access number, no ad, I will say it's a very decent service. It's definitely a best free ISP right now. I just hope this one won't go away any time soon.
