REVISED! as of July 18th 2000.
Hi There,
I recently wrote a comment about cogeco@home and about 10 people somewhat recommended the opinion, I think that if you plan to NR my opinions that you should at least take the time to put in a comment as to why you did this, I would do it for any other.
Here is my previous opinion exactly as it was, my revisions will be posted at the bottom.
I have had cogeco @Home for a few years now and can remember I think a week where the service was on and off but that was during the merger of @Home. I have never had an outage with them since!
I work for comcast@home technical support and know what problems can arise and personally I haven't experienced any of these issues.
I have recently gone to a website and used the information gathered from it to boost my modem speeds up to a 900K download, and this weekend I am looking to bust the cap off and hopefully get 2.4MB on the download.
The consistency of the speeds through the modem are nice. The technical support is ok, considering that I work for technical support for roughly the same company I realize what we can and can't do, however the wait times are kind of slow on the queue but the techs seem pretty knowledgable.
If you have any questions about your account with them or your account with comcast then please drop me a line at comcast-tier@home.com
thanks,

!!Revision!!
Hi there,
Here is some technical information that maybe some people were looking for.
Our systems with @home run on 750Mghz and is a redundant network meaning that if a line gets cut that your signal will find another route to the RDC.
If speeds with @home are slow it is because we have no control of the websites that you visit, they might still be running on 33.6k for all we know. The connections between you and the RDC is where the speeds are measured.
We recently have done away with the older modems that were somewhat set up on a static network, we switched to a DHCP (dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) pro-DOCSIS modems, what DOCSIS means is Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification defining the requirements of the HSDI (High Speed Data Interface)this makes for better stronger connections over the HFC (Hybrid Fiber-Coax) which have more capacity and flexibility and expandability than any other available wired alternative.
some of @home customers are conected to the Internet via a private Tier1 Backbone meaning even less congestion.
Now if you want any more information about this or you feel the need to NR or SR or even R this opinion them please have the common courtesy to leave a reason for your rating. We will all get furter by accepting our faults than the person that is always trying to prove they are right.
Thanks,
Patrick J. Duffy
