Pros: Speedy connection (For Dial-Up), plenty of webspace, no busy signals, no disconnects!
Cons: A bit confusing to use.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend Earthlink to anyone, just for the reliability of the connection. The rest can come later.

And I'm so happy to be that way! We signed up for Earthlink, on the 25th of June, 2003. I called over the phone, to activate the account. The represenative was nice, kind, and understood my needs, and also spoke English!
America Online had become an extremely pricey, and unreliable service to buy. $23.90 per month, and constantly getting disconnected, IF you could get connected at all. Occasionally, I would experience a busy signal. I would try to cancel the call, but the software would completely freeze (Which would eventually hose the entire computer). I'm an impatient person, when I need to do something, and I did not have the time to wait for America Online.
So, we decided to move over to Earthlink, after we read that we could save $4.95 a month over AOL. Pretty impressive, if you ask me. Ironically, we had become disconnected from AOL 10 times in less than an hour.
So, what about Earthlink, you ask?
It's great! I have never been happier with the internet. Pages load slightly faster, and when downloading, speeds are much faster. I can always depend on Earthlink connecting the first time, every time.
I also have my small (2 Megabytes, growing every month), yet informative webpage loaded on my Webspace. It was very nice of them to include an FTP client that I could actually UNDERSTAND. Webspace is very intuitive, and responds and behaves like other Windows applications.
The connection is also very stable. I can stay online for hours at a time. My family uses the internet heavily. I have been disconnected a number of 4 times since 6-25. All 4 were my fault. :-( Remind me to relocate my desk, so I won't trip over the telephone cord. :-)
Earthlink works with all of the popular Instant Messaging programs. I can still view my Yahoo! Messenger Buddy List, AOL Instant Messenger Buddy List, and Windows Messenger. It just works.
Earthlink seems to have all of the USEFUL features that people actually USE. The software is not loaded with crap, and does not load my screen with ads, or chat invitations. It also does not force me to upgrade my software every two months. If there is an upgrade, I can choose to wait, or ignore it completely. And with Earthlink, I can see what was upgraded.
Earthlink's Pop-Up blocker works for a change. AOL's Pop-Up blocker would never turn on when you needed it to. There seemed to be no settings for it, and if you did, it would completely ignore your requests. Sounds just like them anyway.
I have not had the opportunity to use their SPAM blocker just yet. I have tried my hardest to completely eliminate SPAM from my e-mail address. I have another e-mail address for that. I think I just may try to use it. AOL's never really did work, I never saw any results. My mother still gets 50 SPAM messages each day.
As I see more advantages/disadvantages to the Earthlink service, I will be sure to update this review. If you have any comments/disagreements, just leave a comment. I'm very satisfied!
