Cons: Direct-dial Tech Support, only service Texans
The Bottom Line: If you can get it, pay the $10 and be done with it. Don't pay $30 for another ISP that does the same thing as EV1

3 words: Ten dollar ISP. With tax, I still pay under $11. It's just as fast as any other local ISP I've tried throughout Texas. As Internet Service Providers go, Everyone's Internet is not selling bells and whistles. They sell a really good price instead. The "Just 10 bucks" promo was originally only a 2 week promo that kept getting extended due to the tremendous response.
www.EV1.net is their website and it has migrated to NBCi due to some discrepancies with their previous provider. The CEO terms himself "Head Surfer" in his customer updates via email. I find that term somewhat amusing.
They offer Dial-up/ISDN and DSL service at the respective prices of $10 and $40. Make sure you have a credit card; cause that's the only way you'll get the $10 promo. Otherwise it's $17.95. Include the $29.50 set up fee into the deal and for around $40 you can gain access to the net.
Their web hosting services are offered at 100 MB for 10 bucks! This includes domain name registration, unlimited FTP and unlimited bandwidth. As a customer you get 300 MB of personal web space; but you don't get the domain name registration. Front Page 2000 extensions are supported. Or, you can FTP your files over to their server.
There are only 2 numbers available for me from Austin. The secondary number, although slightly slower, has more stability and reliability. I just went and found that there is a Bastrop # which I will be trying out (since I live in Del Valle which is next to Bastrop).
Tech support exists but you have to dial direct. Well, considering that I'm only paying $10/month, I can't expect the world eh? As an alternate means of receiving support, they have live chat sessions available for members only during business hours. Of course that means you'll have to be able to CONNECT to the internet first ::grimace:: . I fussed over the fact that their website had outdated DNS IP Addresses. I have yet to see that corrected.
You can also secure free web-based email accounts; as many as you'd like. They sent me a free CD-ROM with a 3rd party dial-up as well as updates to IE, Netscape. Adobe and several other web-handy software packages were included free of charge.
The commercials....Ugh! Looks like the budget was about 10 bucks! 3 cheesy-looking guys in hawaiian shirts, lip-syncing into studio mics. A college-level acting job of one of the singers acting as if he's balancing on a surf board with a painted bed sheet of a wave behind him. From one standpoint, I can really appreciate the commercial. That's because they aren't spending unnecessary $$ on commercials, which means they can still afford to offer dial-up for $10, right?!?!
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the service. It's an extremely good price with a few useful perks. If you happen to live in TX, you might want to give Everyone's Internet a second look.
