| ESTIU's Full Review: Juno |
I have trouble once in a blue moon with my CompuServe and AOL connections. So, I wanted to try a free ISP. I, for some unknown reason, decided to try Juno. That was a big mistake.
I went to their website and downloaded the program without a problem. However, I started having problems from the beginning with the set-up process. It was too slow trying to connect to get local access numbers. I had to try this process twenty times before I was able to get a list of access numbers.
When I did get access numbers, there wasn't any for my local area (area code 828). This is not what I was looking for nor was it the impression I had received from their website. I thought they had plenty of access numbers for the entire United States.
Well, when I got brave enough to try and use it anyway without local access, I was more upset with Juno. I could not stay logged in for more than thirty seconds without getting disconnected. The connection speed was terrible, too (less than half of what I connect at with CompuServe and AOL). I got connected at 19000 bps! Not to mention I could not use ICQ with Juno!
I would highly recommend staying away from this ISP.
