When the DSL service came out through Southwestern Bell I was hiped about it. Being able to be on the internet and talk to a friend on the phone at the same time just seemed so much more convienent then having to check my answering machine every time I got off of my dial up connection. The speed that they were offing was mind boggling to me as well, being able to download 10 megs of info in a matter of a minute instead of an hour or more, oh yeah count me in. Of course I thought it was going to be a good thing because it was coming from Southwestern Bell, the top phone company in the United States. Then I saw the price tag attached to this, why was the cost so much higher than most other dial up connections? Sure they offer higher speeds but does that really justify that high of a price? Then I heard about people having problems with their service. I know that anything new is going to have problems, that's just the way it is. Every time a friend of mine would call up their technical support number and ask for help, they would give him the run around for an hour! An hour! Why should any company keep a customer, who sends them money, on hold off and on for an hour. This inccident didn't occur one time at that, it happened time and time again and my friend ( who runs his own business and was dependent upon the internet) was loosing money by not being able to connect. He didn't have service for the better part of a month. It took them a month to figure out a small little problem.
So when I'm asked if I want to sign up for DSL, I say no thanks I'll stick with my locall server. It may be slower but it's alot more reliable than your company. Which all and all that's a sad fact. So make the descison for yourself, but don't say I didn't warn you.
