| Darkwolven's Full Review: Armstrong Cable Services (PA) |
First, let me say that I know QUITE a bit more than what some others do that have reviewed Zoominternet here. I -live- computers in my hobby time.
First, Armstrong Zoominternet is CHEAP! $50 per month basic package if you don't have cable through them. If you do, it's only $40 per month. You can't shake a stick at that price no how for broadband unless there are major problems with the service. Have I had problems? None. NEVER!
I have been a Zoom customer for THREE YEARS now paying for the basic package (500 kbps down/250 kbps up) for 2½ years! 0% packet loss. Never have I had major trouble.
Once they had trouble because the local connection to the UU net backbone was broken. Not their fault! All local broadband ISP's in the western PA area were DOWN. I was refunded 3 days to my account. 3 times the amount of time it was down for!
Another time there was moisture in my cable box connection on the outside of my house causing line trouble. After calling Zoominternet regarding my trouble, they scheduled an appointment for a tech to come out and repair the problem the following day since it was late. (at this time the cause was unknown, so they were expecting to possibly have to enter my home to fix the trouble.) Since I work days, the appointment was for early evening. When I got home, I found that the problem had disappeared. Shortly afterward, a man knocked on my door. He was a tech from Zoom ON HIS WAY HOME FROM WORK who stopped by just to check and make sure the repair they had already done to my line corrected the problem and to explain what the problem was. NEVER have I been SO IMPRESSED with customer service!! EVER!
I have run several intranets, both hardware and software, inside my home with no problems ever with service on any computer. Zoom techs have even been helpful at times with questions regarding administering my intranets over their service, which they are NOT required to do by the contract.
I now pay for the small office package which gets me 1500 kbps down/500 kbps up for only $60 dollars a month!! You can not find a deal for broadband speed approaching T1 like this ANYWHERE I have ever seen! I have many tech friends who are ENVIOUS of the service and speed that I get from Zoom. I will be moving soon, and my biggest lament is that I can not take Zoominternet service to where I am going!
Bottom line: After having experience with MANY ISP's in western PA I can say with out a doubt in my tech and computer enthusiast lifestyle that Armstrong Cable Zoominternet is THE best ISP I have ever seen and it will be nigh impossible to top their service. Customer service, if ever required, is fast and polite. Customer service is open long hours. Unless your connection goes down in the middle of the night, you will get good service.
I have one comment regarding previous bad reviews posted here regarding Armsrong Zoominternet: Either they don't know what they are doing as a customer, or their computer hardware is faulty or configured wrong.
