Five years ago I left Mac OS for Windows NT because the Mac OS just did not have the stability and functionality I needed for hard core Web development. I am please to say that I have not started the migration back to Mac and it is because of OS X.
OS X is truly the best of all OS' -- it is an open source platform (the core OS is open source while Apple retains control of certain layers) based on BSD Unix. This means it is stable and secure. I have gone for weeks without having to restart it. In using it for six months I have HAD to restart it once on the 10.0 version. Since upgrading to 10.1 the workstation has REQUIRED no restarts (although I do periodically to move the machine or just give it a break).
Mac OS X is very easy to use. While I love all the Unix functions there is no reason the users needs to even know what Unix is. You have to know what you are doing to get into the Unix nuts and bolts.
The interface is well designed, easy to use, and very responsive. The management and configuration of the OS (installs, preferences, file management, etc) are efficient and logical.
I have found many useful applications on the Apple site -- many of them free others very reasonably priced.
