| sweetsue_98's Full Review: Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Media Only) ... |
When my new computer arrived this past week, I decided that I had to get the upgrade to Windows Millenium Edition. First of all, there was a $40 rebate on some speakers I wanted if you bought any "Windows Me" product, and then Staples threw in five nice software titles for free. So, how could I go wrong?
I decided the time had come to "do it". Let's put that disc in and see what happened. Gee that was easy! With the 700MHZ processor the installation took less than 30 minutes, and was basically needing no interaction at all.
This latest product of Microsoft seems to be a good one. One feature that it has is it's own page that at the click of a button you can access upgrades, product guides, support, etc. Although you could find this on the web, this handy, right at the click of a mouse seems to be very user friendly.
It contains an icon for the Windows Media Player which consists of a radio, CD library, and everything that you would find on a home system, but just on your computer. Windows has made it easy to access various types of music from the Player. Again, a very convenient, and handy feature.
The operating system will keep itself current by downloading automatically improvements from the web. You can also connect multiple home computer together, however since I have only one, this feature was not in the consideration for my purchase. Also, it will restore itself in a much more efficient manner than the previous Windows products.
The graphics are indeed the latest technology, and contains Windows DirectX and graphic accelerators. This graphic area seems to be quite strong, and contains features to incorporate your photos from digital cameras and scanners.
One thing that has impressed me so far, is that my on-line pages seem to download faster. I am stuck with horrible connection speeds, and there are times that I think a page will never come up, but I have noticed that the Millenium Edition has improved that.
So, it looks like Microsoft has done it again! Only time will tell, but so far........so good.
