| do_tam's Full Review: Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2001 7.0 Full Version fo... |
I've been a user of computers for many years now, and I have had many encounters with virusses, worms, etc.. I've also have been privilaged enough to try many of the other antivirus software out there. I've noticed several differeces between this product and many others.. Let me start by guiding you through the installation.
the installation
Installing this product was the easiest thing I have ever done. The installation is presented in a user-friendly format so installation has never been easier. Even if you know nothing about computers you can still install this program..
performance
I decided to test this program and see it's full potential. To do this compared this antivirus software to others myself. I took mcaffee viruscan 5.X and installed it on one of my computers, which both had the same specifications. And installed norton antivirus 2001 on the other. I first started to compare them by seeing how much system resources they took up. I noticed that norton antivirus took up 9% less system resources then mcaffee did. This is a considerable difference. The amount of system resources availible define how much you can do on your computer, the more you have free the more you can do. Then I gave the programs the ultimate test. I obtained several virusses from various sources and put these virus scans to the test. Mcaffee was only able to catch 5 out of 7 of these viruses and one of these viruses that I put on my computer destroyed Mcaffee's virus definitions. While norton was able to catch all 7 viruses without damage to its virus definitions. That was extremely impressive.
Next I decided to update my virus definitions.. In the mcaffee virus scan i had to download the virus definitions from the website, which is about 8 megs.. While when i tried to update the norton antivirus definitions, i found that they already updated themself.. This was astonishing, it automatically updatem themself without me noticing..
overall
Overall I found that Norton Antivirus 2001 is your best buy, and the safest program there is out there. So if your ever planning to protect your computer from virusses and other various threats I suggest that you get Norton Antivirus 2001..
