| thechuunt's Full Review: Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2001 7.0 Full Version fo... |
The best anti-virus software for the average user.
Symantec has done an excellent job with their anti-virus software. The version I use is the 2001 v.7.0 for windows. I run this on a p4 1.6 with 256 mb of SDRAM and it does not slow my system down. However, when I ran this software on a slower machine I could tell that it was lagging my system down. This software is extremely easy to set up and use. The great benefits is that you have one year of free updates which will keep your system pretty well protected from any new viruses out there. Weekly scans, excellent databases, and simplicity are the things that have made this anti-virus software so popular.
Ease of Use
It doesn’t get easier than this. Pop in the CD and install. It’ll run a quick live-update to make sure the virus database is up to the minute and will scan your system for any potentially damaging files. You can schedule weekly updates and weekly scans that’ll keep you from manually worrying about having your system up to date.
Integration
It integrates with your system almost seamlessly. It’ll scan all outgoing e-mail and will check any downloaded files before you execute them. This is great protection and provide a state of mind that any anti-virus software should provide to the average user. Also, you can configure the features to provide you more or less flexibility. Very easy and straight-forward to configure.
Price
Good price for the package. It does what it needs to do as an anti-virus program. Protects and detects. That’s all you can ask out of a 49.99 piece of software. Don’t expect it to protect you from EVERY virus out there but use it as a vaccination – a mere barrier to what’s out there. And the price of this product makes it the most valuable anti-virus program on the market.
Conclusion
Symantec has done a great job with Norton anti-virus 7.0 2001 and I am sure that there new versions live up to what the last version did. It’s comprehensive, easy to use and set up, and most of all protects/integrates your entire system. This obviously does not protect you from malicious hacker attacks but it does it’s job if you just want the piece of mind of not infecting your entire system with the Anna Kournikova virus.
