Pros:Combination LCD TV and DVD player-convenient, space saving and great HD viewing quality.
Cons:Being bathed in blue light at night and jarred with loud programs in the morning!
The Bottom Line: I recommend this for someplace where loud volume is NOT a problem. For the price, it was a great deal!
Locating a suitable wall mount and installing this LCD TV/DVD combo for our bedroom, was not a problem. We do not have a cable box, but are directly connected to the cable service receiving non-HD channels, and about 20 HD channels. It took longer to initialize the HD channels, but now that they are available, I watch these almost exclusively!

The picture is bright (I have not found it too bright) and I had no problem getting the color tones accurate with trying a few of the basic supplied settings. I wasn’t sure what to expect with a 720p screen, but the HD channels look MUCH better than I expected! Occasionally I see the channel pixelate, but I think that is a result of the cable signal strength at that outlet.
The DVD player is extremely convenient for early morning exercise videos and the quality seems quite good. There is an SD card slot below the DVD player on the left side, making photo viewing simple—I go through a couple folders and we are able to view a simple slide-show format of photos.
However, I have 2 complaints that may cause this unit to be banished to the office.
The first is the blue “standby” light at the bottom the set. There is a clear plastic decorative piece that allows the blue light to appear across the entire bottom of the set. It is even brighter at the center near the logo. It’s actually attractive, but far from conducive to sleeping. I’d like to be able to turn the set on while in bed, or I’d have tried turning it off at the power strip. I thought I found a solution when I saw a “light” button on the remote—but while it does allow you to toggle the standby light on or off, it is ONLY while viewing the television! It has no effect on the set when the screen is off. My current, less than satisfactory solution to having a blue glow lighting all night, is blue electrical tape stuck along the clear plastic. I’ve tried nail polish and magic markers, but the blue tape is better looking. It is not staying adhered well nor is it completely blocking the light. The next step is dis-assembly to see if I can remove the light.
The second problem for which I’ve not found a solution is the volume. I keep it at the lowest setting, “1”, and it is much louder than I’d ever need! I am quite familiar with the “Mute” button and use it constantly—especially early in the morning—even if no one else it at home! I don’t need to hear the darn thing THAT much! The DVD player is much more quiet.
Overall, I like the appearance (and would like it better without blue electrical tape!) and picture quality. This would be a great set in a noisy environment, and should be perfect in an office/sewing room. I think I will seek a replacement for bedroom use however.
