Pros: Easy application, provides great protection.
Cons: Buring sensation when it gets in eyes.
It is that time of year when we are playing outside and enjoying the wonderful warm weather. It is easy to become involved in an activity and forget the necessity of putting on sunscreen. This is an important step that is needed to keep skin healthy and free from the discomfort of nasty sunburn. We use Coppertone Continuous Spray for Kids on a daily basis. Although the labeling is for children, we use the spray for everyone in the family. This bottle has an SPF of 50 and contains 6 fl ounces of liquid sunscreen.
SPF refers to the amount of time that one can be in the sun before the skin will begin to redden. In addition, this number also is a reflection of the overall strength of the product. The number indicates that you can stay in the sun that many times longer before one will begin experiencing sunburn. This will dependent on other factors though. It one is spending a large amount of time in water or participating in activities that will result in sweating, the product will not last as long. Even though most sunscreens market that they are waterproof, in reality they are actual water resistant. You should apply sunscreen after being in water or after long periods of sweating.
This product comes in a spray can which allows you to place on the body without having to rub it in. This allows one to get even coverage very quickly. The can allows for a continuous spray so you do not have to pump the sunscreen out of the container. The top of the container has a lid that opens and locks close by turning it.
This product is a broad spectrum sunscreen that provides a barrier against UVA and UVB protection. They advertise this product is waterproof but this actually translates to water resistant as previously mention. Coppertone states that the product will hold its protection after 50 minutes in water or excess sweating. The sunscreen provides SPF protection of "50" which means that you can stay out 50 times longer than you normally but before experiencing redness of the skin. The sunscreen has also been equipped with antioxidant vitamins to supplement the skin's natural defenses. Although this product is intended for children, it will irritate and give a burning sensation in the eyes. If the product does get in the eyes, they should be rinsed with water. I have not experienced any problems with the sunscreens getting in my eyes after application from water exposure or sweating. This product is hypoallergenic and dermatologist tested.
Since the weather has turned warm, we all use this product on a daily basis. It is very convenient to spray rather than rub it in. I find that the product soaks in much quicker and is non-greasy. We have not experienced any staining of clothing if some gets sprayed on the material. I would advise spraying on a satin or silk material as I would expect that some marks would be left behind. Overall, we are happy with the effectiveness of this product and have been free of any sun burns this season thus far. I burn extremely easily and am happy to have found a product that is easy to put on while still receiving great protection. I prefer this brand to others as most spray on versions has a SPF of 30. Being that my daughter and I are both light skinned, very little sun is required to cause sunburn. The only aspect of this sunscreen that I do not like is that it can be difficult to get on the face. As it will burn the eyes, you do not want to spray it directly on. I will spray some on my hands and then rub it in. As it does absorb quickly you do need to act quickly.
I highly recommend this product in any household.
