Pros:Solid, dependable, guaranteed for life
Cons:Not more guarantees work like this
The Bottom Line: A good socket set with easy to read markings that can be seen in dim light and guaranteed for life.

Craftsman Sockets SAE - Easy to Read

This is a set of Craftsman 1/2" square drive deep sockets that have easy to read markings that are large enough to read in dim light.  The markings cover most of the side of the socket with numbers about 1/4" high in bold font and the markings are similar in metric sizes. These are not easy to mix up standard with metric they are so well marked.

The sizes cover standard American SAE sizes from 7/16 to 1 inch, for a total of 9 deep well sockets. The sockets are forged and machined with twelve points per socket so they can easily be gotten on to fasteners and need only a small movement to turn the fasteners that are hidden in crowded places like they are on most vehicles. These sockets have laser etched markings that are very large on a contrasting background that stand out and are easy to read in the dim and grimy areas that they are often used.

1/2" square drive is the heavy duty socket set with wrenches to work on automobile engines, electric motors, appliances, trucks, and industrial equipment.

This set includes just the socket wrenches in millimeter denominations of 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 3/4, 13/16, 7/8, and 15/16, and 1 inch sizes. The only size missing in that series is 11/16 inch so you need one of those to fill out your range of sizes.  These sockets can be used with any type of handle - ratchet, breaker bar, T handle, or torque wrench.

All these sockets fit fasteners in the standard ranges of mechanical fasteners used on automobiles, construction equipment, and light trucks.  If you are regularly turning wrenches on automobiles, trucks, or industrial equipment you will find these very handy and useful.

The sockets are made of chrome vanadium steel forged, machined, polished and heat treated and chrome plated with High visibility markings that make the sizes Easy-To-Read in any available light. The markings are much larger than old markings and are on a contrasting background to grab your attention and make it easy to pick out the size you are looking for.

Like all Craftsman tools, they are guaranteed for life by Sears. Merely return a damaged tool to the local Sears store and they will give you a free replacement with no hassles. It’s the best guarantee I know of in the industry.  The few times I’ve needed to use the guarantee I simply took the tool back to Sears and showed it to a tool clerk. They get a new one and send you on your way.  It’s as simple as that and much more user friendly than any other guarantee I’ve used.
