Pros: various colors, durable, great for beach and water play
Cons: can be expensive if not found on sale
We've had great luck with Crocs so when I saw that the Crocs Shayna sandals on super sale at a discount retailer I grabbed them. Our pair is the navy blue however there are more colors available on Crocs.com. There are a few different things I look for in a summer sandal for my child. It should be easy to clean, durable enough to wear at the pool, beach or running around on the park, and it should not give her blisters. Crocs Shayna sandal meet all of these requirements.
Crocs.com says, "Fun and functional, this Shayna mary jane flat from crocs promises to be her choice for warm weather wear. The lightweight, easy-care croslite upper provides comfort, while the mary jane and back straps ensure a snug fit.
Shayna Sandals are a variation of a Mary Jane shoes but with holes and straps for ventilations. They are made of a durable and pliable material called Croslite, a material that Crocs created for their shoes. The Shayna shoes are sturdy and the treads keep intact so they are great for toddlers especially if they are going to be around water. In addition to the back ankle strap these shoes have a top strap for added stability and I think it helps keep them on my fighters narrow little feet. In addition to the ventilation holes there are two holes for Crocs Jibbitz which are like charms for the shoes. My daughter has a hello kitty face she likes to attach to her Crocs but of course these items are just for decoration and not needed for usability.
To clean I usually rinse them out and wipe them down. Drying them n the sunshine is supposed to take care of any bacteria or germs. I haven't had any issues with scuffs not coming off on these Crocs and the dark navy color seems to hide dirt as well so we wash them on a regular basis. To me they are true to size, a nice change from our other set of toddler crocs which seem to run very big.
I guess one could argue that Crocs Shayna shoes aren't very attractive but I think they are cute on little kids. We've paired these shoes with shorts, dresses and occasionally pants. The dark navy is easy to match with lots of outfits, however the Shayna comes in pink, purple and black if you tend to go towards more traditional boy and girl colors.
Crocs tend to be expensive and these are selling for around $25 on amazon.com and crocs.com. I got these at a big box discount retailer for $13, a deal considering they were brand new with the tags still on. These shoes are a great investment and we got a lot of playtime out of them!
