I was searching for a cheap tv and dvd player.  This Curtis tv/dvd player fit the bill nicely. 

Digital tuner, LED screen, 1080i, dvd player, all the inputs including a HDMI, a coax dig output and a headphone output.

picture quality is good.  most of my tv programming is 480i.  a couple 720P, which are very sharp, and one or two 1080i which are beautiful.

Contrast is excellent.  I choose the preset 'dynamic' setting, which really brings out the contrast.  Very nice.

Blackness is a little sloppy.  In dark scenes, images appear blotchy and sort of reddish tinted. 

The dvd plays nicely.  I don't know if the dvd player is playing at 480i or better.  Picture is good. 

DVD slot on right side.  One quirk is the dvd must be inserted with label side facing forward.  unusual configuration.

Controls for tv and some dvd functions on right side also.  Lettering is small and not illuminated.

Sound is tinny.  Not very loud.  tv is louder than dvd player.

Two small oval speakers fire downward. 

Bass/treble/7 band equalizer included.  Not very useful with internal speakers.  But, I have this tv connected to a small external soundbar via the headphone output.  The eq comes in handy to smooth the soundbar's response by slightly cutting certain frequencies.

Surround mode seems generic.  does virtually nothing.  Sound a little thinner and raspy when employed.

Auto leveling I don't like.  Designed to lower commercial bursts to the lower sound levels of the program being watched.  I find it annoying.  When watching a movie or enjoying music, the leveling circuit is 'tricked'.  Loud passages in movies and music are muffled.  Sound seems to rise and then suddenly drops unnaturally.

Dynamic range with full compression, no compression and several points inbetween.

One unusual feature is a 'key'.  By adjusting this setting, you are adjusting the pitch.  This type of adjustment was pretty common with tape decks, turntables, reel to reel and other hifi equipment of the past.  also used in studios.  Kind of neat.  I played with it but found the default setting as appropriate.

Another unusual feature is 'audio only'.  This is a cool feature.  You can turn off the screen, thereby allowing only audio (sound).  Handy when listening to music from your cable box or a CD in your dvd player.  I like this feature.  It protects the screen too, by avoiding stagnant images which can burn themselves onto the screen.

The included stand features an adjustable tilt, about 5 degrees forward and 10 backwards.  Wall mounting via a separate bracket, 100 x 100 mm vesa.

A remote controls all functions. 

At $129 this is a bargain.   Even old shows look sharp and clear.  I am very satisfied.
