From 360 CVC letter cubes, 120 red vowel cubes and 240 blue consonant cubes, Alphabet sorting box, and 26 Alphabet cards, to 24 page Flip Books including Rhyming Words, Opposite Words,  CVC 3 Letter Words, to Word Building Cards including 24 Word Family Cards, 24 CVC Cards, 12 Word Ladder Cards to a 60 page Phonics Activities Book; this is an excellent, well rounded, comprehensive kit well suited for strengthening periods following daily instruction lessons.

State and Common Core Teaching Standards break down Language Arts Reading Instruction Guidelines to include creation and ability to state groups of rhyming words, ability to discern and count syllables in a word, ability to differentiate onset and rime as presented in one syllable words, ability to fragment and merge the phonemes of single syllable words, ability to segregate phonemes within words by identifying the beginning, middle, and ending sounds in one-syllable words ability to append or delete a phoneme to a word.

Osage County First Grade spends a good bit of time blending, spelling, expanding decoding skills, phonetic comprehension, vocabulary and word building, the Large Group Unifix Letter Sounds Activity Kit filled with distinctive multi-sensory manipulatives provides one more fortification implement activity plan.

As expertise using Phonetic Analysis Skills, the capacity to apply phonics knowledge for decoding one-syllable words grows; poise, confidence and self-assurance grows as well.  Little Learners begin using the alphabet cards, sorting box and vowel and consonant cubes to form short and long vowel patterns including CVC, CVCV and CV words, and to begin to draw on r-controlled vowel patterns, to make use of blends, digraphs, and diphthongs to expand Language Arts facility and Reading Skill.


Osage County First Grade uses letter cards and cubes to form letters, 
sort cubes and cards alphabetically using the Alphabet sorting box, practice rhyming words using cubes and the Rhyming Words Flip Book and Word Family Cards with a partner,  form pairs of Opposite Words using cubes, build  CVC 3 Letter Words using letter cubes and Word Building Cards, along with using  the 24 CVC Cards, and 12 Word Ladder Cards.  The Phonics Activities Book provides further augmentation work. 

As with all materials the Large Group Unifix Letter Sounds Activity Kit is not brought out for work everyday.  Even the most exciting materials begin to lose their glamour if overworked.


Letter  cubes, cards and books all mesh to provide an excellent reinforcement tool for Osage County First Grade Little Readers.
