Absence of Justice is the third game in the Disgaea series from the Japanese video game publisher Nippon Ishi offers high-definition graphics, including beautiful character art and stunning spell effects.  While Absence of Justice is the third game in the series, the storyline stands out on it's own.  It is the story of Mao; a demon gone bad or rather good.  It is set in the Nether Institute Evil Academy the preppiest of prep schools in the demon world.  After reading a manga, Mao decides he wants to become a hero and dismiss his demon upbringing to overthrow his father who just happens to be the Netherworld Overlord.

Players in the game advance through events which can occur before or after battles, during the story, or at your base.  You get to see the interactions between the characters as the events unfold.  The base is where you (as Mao) prepare for upcoming battles, purchase items/weapons and restore health to your characters.  Battles are a turn based system where all the team members will take their turn before the enemies have the chance to attack back.  You need to plan which characters will attach enemies and which enemy will die when.  The characters are customizable to an extent.  You can train them in specific items and magic spells.  Depending on their clubs the characters get special abilities within that club.  It could be something like getting extra experience points to getting extra stats when they stand next to a club member.  

The gameplay for the game series is easy to learn and once you learn one game you can play the others.  Disgaea 3 holds onto the game play of its predecessors.  The anime inspired artwork is well done and beautifully done.  It almost has the feel as if you are playing a Saturday morning cartoon, but in game form.  There are a lot of different opinions within the game that it might be overwhelming for new players.  The music and voice acting that was chosen for the game fit perfectly well.  There are musical moments in the game that the musicis positively amazing and can easily become favorite video game music.  Each time you play the game there is something different.  You may defeat the game once, but when you play it a second time there is a completely different ending.  Always something to look forward too.

The artwork in Absence of Justice is the same as the first two games which brings the series together and when you play it, you know it is a Nippon Ishi game.  Disgaea 3 is the perfect continuation of the first two video games.  The story plays out with the character profile popping on the screen and a dialog box.  As I stated there  are voice actors which portray the personalities of the characters.  The voices help add to the humor of the video game.  It is an excellent game for Nippon Ishi fans.
