If you have a difficult job that everyone says that it can not be done then that is when I say, give me a Dremel tool and I can do anything. You can usually find these a just about any home improvement store, but I found mine at a Sears’s hardware store. The prices of these will vary between $90 and $100depending on where you go, it is possible to find these on sale but that is very infrequent. When I found myself with a job that someone had covered up with a bunch of carpeting I knew that I had to make it right. As far as I knew, this type of repair to a hardwood floor had never been done. Everyone that I had talked to told me that I would have to replace the whole floor. But, I was very determined and I wanted to show everyone that if you have the tools you can do any job.

This tool is approximately ten inches long and weighs less than two pounds. This comes equipped with a six foot long electric cord, which you can plug into any household outlet. This is also equipped with a 1.5 amp motor. This is grey and black in color and has an on/off switch centrally located on the back of the tool. On the lower end of the Dremel where the cord comes out of the tool there is a variable speed control dial which has five different settings (2,4,6,8,10). Each setting raises the optimal speed range per minute of the tool, starting at 10,000 - 21,000 OPM. This comes with seven accessories which are a hook and loop pad (MM11), sandpaper (60, 120, 240 grit) MM70W, 3” wood and drywall saw blade (MM450), ¾” wood finish cut blade (MM440), and flexible scraper blade (MM900). You will also receive a very durable carrying case in which you have the capabilities of storing other accessories.
I needed a tool that would do a special job that no other tool would be able to reach, such as getting real close to the walls and underneath edges of the drywall. To repair the hardwood, I also had to make a groove in the side of the existing wood that was still on the floor. By using the attachments that came with this tool it did an excellent job. In what would have taken me hours to do by hand with a file, it took only about one hour to do all of the alterations to the wood that was needed. It was very easy to reach different angles just by switching the blade around to the other side of the tool. There are several different uses that this can be applied to dry surfaces for sanding, corners, saw of soft metals such as copper piping, and for the sawing of soft woods or plastics. I have also used this on any flush cutting, the removal of any old padding left on the floor when I pulled up the old carpeting. When you are ready for your final phases of your job you can use this for preparing the surface by removing any defective spots.
The accessories are very easy to change, all you have to do is unscrew the Allen head screw that holds the pressure washer down and install the attachment that you want. There 11 studs that you will place the attachment over and then tighten the screw back up and away you go. Just apply pressure and the tool will vibrate away at your project. This will make a lot of noise so I would suggest wearing hearing protection. Even though this does not throw any saw dust or chips of wood around like other hand tools, I would highly recommend still wearing eye protection. Some dust particles will be created by using this tool so it might be also advisable that you use a dust mask. With the electronic feed back system that this offers it provides you with a soft and easy start of working on any of your projects.
Other accessories that you can purchase are sandpaper for the removal of old paint (MM70P), ¾” wood/metal flush cut blade (MM422), 3/8” wood flush cut blade (MM411), 1/8” grout removal blade (MM500), 1/16” grout removal blade (MM501), rigid scraper blade (MM600), 60 grit diamond paper for grinding (MM900). You can keep all of these inside of your carrying case so that you have them with you on every job.
This product comes with a two year warranty against any defects from the original date of purchase. If you have any problems do not return to the store call the service center at 800-4-Dremel.
This is one of those tools that you might only use once in a while, but it will save you time and money in the long run. I highly recommend giving this a try, you will be amazed at the productivity and versatility that this offers you.
