Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Cleaner

We bought the DC41 after extensive studying, several $150 machines and a Roomba. We had 5 dogs at the time and vacuum 1-2 times daily. I applaud the 41 for it's maneuverability, long cord, and general ease of use. I like the hose, although it is a bit awkward, it is also always where you need it. My problem, and it is the reason we will never spend $600.00 on a vacuum again, is the darned floating head doesn’t have enough downward pressure to leave a pattern on the carpet, hence leaving items such as feathers, bits of paper and tape, ect, essentially doing a worse job than even our $39.95 spare closet vacuum. Out of frustration I taped a 3lb weight to the head in an effort to help it have better contact. While this made the ball much tougher to use and really hurt the ability to get under furniture, it solved the problem. I'm very disappointed that a machine this expensive and highly engineered works so poorly without having a weight duct taped to it. The machine does pick up hair, but leaves most everything else unless it's gone over many times.
