For three bucks, you can't beat the e.l.f. Studio Blush Brush!
Written: Jun 24, 2012
Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:Inexpensive, no shedding, fluffy, soft bristles, versatile
Cons:Not as big as some pricier blush brushes, synthetic bristles (which I prefer)
The Bottom Line: The e.l.f. Studio Blush Brush is a cheap but good brush for blush, powder, or bronzer. As good as many high priced brushes and only $3.00!
I have a lot of different makeup brushes but I am always buying more, often replacing my older ones. I picked up some brushes from e.l.f.'s website recently and one was the e.l.f. Studio Blush Brush which I got as part of a set of brushes. I'm surprised a how good it is for such an incredibly low price!
About the Brush
This new anti bacterial, synthetic haired Taklon brush is softer and more absorbent and can be used with wet or dry products. Be a professional makeup artist and create a flawless look with this e.l.f. studio brush! The tailored design allows for easy maneuvering and precise color application creates a beautifully defined and sculpted look Can be used to apply blush or bronzer.

About the Brush
This black brush is not a long as some pricey ones. It's about 7" from tip to end. The bristles are black and angle slightly at the top forming a very subtle triangle. They bristles are fairly fluffy and full and are soft but not so soft that they bend out of shape when swirled in powdered blush. The bristles are not natural hair which is what I prefer. I don't need an animal's hair to apply my blush. The brush, when bought alone, comes in a little plastic pouch or carded. I bought mine as a set and they came in a nice plastic pouch with individual slots for each brush.
My Experience
I have high end brushes and everything in between. I didn't expect a lot from this brush but I have used their $1.00 brushes and have been impressed by the quality for such a low price. The Studio Line is $3.00 which is a step up in quality from their lowest priced line.
When my brush set arrived containing my e.l.f. Studio Blush Brush, I liked the sleek look of it. It is all black from bottom to top and has a somewhat ergonomic handle. It's not huge, perhaps 6-7" tall but it is fluffy and the bristles have the right amount of stiffness combined with softness. I have had brushes that scratched my face and others that were so soft that they bent on half with the smallest of pressure. This one was a good combo of the two.
The brush picked up powdered blush and even bronzer and pressed or loose powder with ease. I tapped it to remove the excess and it did a great job distributing the product.
My one big worry was that it would shed. It hasn't. I have seen no little bristles on my face or anywhere else. I also worried before I bought the brush that the part that connects the bristles to the handle may be subpar and allow for breakage. It is very well made and there is a protective barrier around the bottom of the bristles so that the brush doesn't break. I have had high end brushes give way right at the point where the bristles meet the handle but this brush seems to be one that I don't have to worry about.
I clean this brush with either soapy water or with makeup brush cleaner every so often and it dries quickly and retains its shape.
Is it the best blush brown out there? no. But it's $3.00 and works as well as many high end brushes.
Buying Info
You can but the e.l.f. Studio Blush Brush alone or in a kit on the eyelipsface website or at a variety of mass-market stores that now carry the e.l.f. brand. Target is one. The price is $3.00. If you buy a kit of brushes, you get a nice pouch to carry them in and a little price break.
The Verdict
I like the e.l.f. Studio Blush Brush and am glad I bought the brush set that I did. The Studio Line is far superior to their Essentials line. I have all the brushes from their Essentials line, which is the cheaper one, and they actually are pretty good but the Studio Line brushes blow them away as far as design and quality. I like this brush and give it 4 stars.
