Pros:Inexpensive, great shade, long wearing, water resistant, easy to apply, no smearing or running
Cons:Brush is not great, not as "punky" as it appears on the website
The Bottom Line: e.l.f. Studio Cream Eyeliner in Punk Purple is a great summer shade. Not too bright or garish but a pretty purple that lasts for hours. And it's only $3.00!
I just made a big order from e.l.f. because they had a freebie with purchase that I couldn't pass up and I was due some new goodies. One item I bought was e.l.f. Studio Cream Eyeliner in Punk Purple. I think this eyeliner is as good as much higher priced cream and gel liners and the color is great, especially for summer.
About the Product
The cream formula creates smooth lines that are defined and precise. Smudge-proof, budge-proof and water-resistant coverage for all day wear to combat against sweat, tears or rain! Achieve thin or bold lines with ease. Slanted Eyeliner Brush included.
This eyeliner comes boxed with a small plastic pot of cream liner with a black lid and a little black slanted brush. The brush isn't one I would recommend using unless you're on the go. It's not a bad brush but it's very small and hard to work with. The color Punk Purple looks like a bright purple but applies darker. It isn't quite as dark as their Plum Purple shade but I don't see much punk in the color - which is a good thing I suppose since I am, after all, almost 48 years old! There is .017 ounce of product in the little tub. Not much but more than Smashbox's JetSet which is many times more expensive!
I favor cream and gel liners although I use pencils as well as liquids as well. I just think creams are easier to apply and last longer. I have this eyeliner in black and other colors but wanted a fresh purple shade and e.l.f. Studio Cream Eyeliner in Punk Purple looked to be just what I was searching for - at a price that wouldn't break the bank.
The little pot has an opening about as big as a nickel which is plenty large enough to swirl a liner brush in. The texture is a cream but it's very thick. I could turn the jar over and vigorously shake it and the product wouldn't come out. It's highly pigmented as well.
I used the e.l.f. brush that came with the liner the first time and got a thicker line than I wanted but nothing so bad that I had to wash it off and reapply. I use my own thin liner brush now and get the line smooth and thin.
This liner glides on without skipping or tugging and dries fast. It is a really pretty deep purple that isn't a black/purple like their Plum Purple but a decidedly purple purple which is what I wanted. It isn't shockingly so but enough that it stands out and looks great against my dark brown eyes. It also has no red undertones which I avoid completely because red around my eyes looks awful.
The liner wears very well. It lasts all day and into the night without fading. I haven't had any issues with it smearing, running, or flaking. It isn't waterproof but is sweat and humidity resistant. I have worn it on very hot, humid days with no running or smearing.
I line both my lower and upper lids with e.l.f. Studio Cream Eyeliner in Punk Purple or just one or the other depending on the look I am going for. It stays put, looks great, and washes off well with my usual facial cleanser.
I have not had any irritation or stinging when using this near my eyes and it has no scent to bother my allergies. A little goes a long way as well. I have had my other shades for ages and they haven't dried out or hardened and I have lots of product left. I have used this shade several times and there's hardly a dent in the cream.
And the price? A measly three bucks! It's hard to beat that!

The Bottom Line
I really like this eyeliner in any of the colors they sell. I have almost all of them and they all are long wearing and concentrated. Punk Purple isn't quite as bright as it looks on the website but that's fine with me. It's purple - not red or maroon - and that's the main thing. I don't like anything red around my eyes because that makes me look sick. This is very purple and very flattering. This liner is as good as high end liner at a fraction of the cost. 4 stars. Almost 5. If it were waterproof, I would 5 star it immediately!
