Pros: Interesting classes. Conveniently located. Affordable.
Cons: Mismarketed as good for students with busy schedules.
The Bottom Line: Got the market cornered as the only accredited program in North Florida. Good for locals but, nationally there are certainly better alternatives.

The University of North Florida's MBA Program is is a good alternative for locals but, cannot compete nationally.
My biggest complaint would be the University's insistence on nickle-and-diming its students. I was stunned when I went to get my student ID and it had to be paid for. At the three other schools I've attended, the first ID was included in the tuition; replacements had to be paid for.
Also, students are responsible for buying and bringing their own testing supplies. It's not enough that the students have to prepare for the test, at UNF students have the added pressure to bring not only a blue book or Scantron but, the right one of four possible hues of Scantron. It wasn't uncommon for students to scramble amongst themselves because they mistook the brick colored Scantron for brown.
Though UNF has no problem charging for the minutia of getting a degree, they do not offer the option of charging postage to have the actual degree sent to your home. For a busy professional, making another trip out to campus is not appealing. My degree sat for nearly a year before I finally collected it.
The school also advertises itself as a good option for busy professionals. As a busy professional, I disagree. Every professor had an attendance policy, some of which were oppressive (In some classes, two absences for any reason was a failure). If attendance is important, it will be reflected in performance in the tests. I found many of the professors uncompromising about late nights in the office or business trips. A student who's job demands travel would not do well at the University of North Florida. Also, see above for the added hassle of finding testing supplies.
The course schedule was a pleasant surprise. The Associate Dean at the time would send a proposed schedule for the next semester for students to comment on. Better yet, the comments were actually considered and frequently acted upon.
On the other hand, the administration is unreasonably inflexible about the class, Advanced Business Policy. They insist that it be the last class a student takes. This causes a bottle neck and scheduling problems. Some of my classmates would find the class filled which actually post-poned their graduation. That kind of imposition jeopardized some student's careers. In my final semester there, the administration addressed the problem by adding more red tape to enroll in the class. First, register for the class as normal and then go to another another website and fill-in some more paperwork.
My opinion of the instructors, attendance policies aside, more or less fit a normal curve. Some were outstanding, some were pitiful, most were fine. I thought the subject matters were interesting and would be useful to me in advancing my career.
Overall, the UNF MBA program is a fine alternative and a good education. However, the school's administration seems more intent on hassling their students rather than helping them through the program.
