| apocalypse7's Full Review: California State University-San Bernardino |
Well I have just gotten through my first year of college in Cal State University San Bernardino and all I can say is that it was an experience of a lifetime. Coming from an hour away from it, I didn't even hear about this campus till my senior year when my best friend told me about it. So I decided to aply and got accepted easily. To get in all you need is to have a decent GPA (Grade Point Average) and if you needed it, SAT or ACT scores. After getting accepted, the process of getting my papers in (high school transcripts, community college transcripts, and financial aid papers)was not a problem. The key in doing this right is to keep on calling the administrative people in the admissions office so that you have told them that you have sent it and if there were any problems, they could call me. After that my financial aid was the second most important thing and what I found out is that there is a better way to apply without having the office losing the papers, is to apply online at fafsa. It made it a lot easier on me and on them. I found out I got a loan reward in only a few weeks. So the administration was pretty good after all.
The campus itself is very beautiful even though San Bernardino is not the greatest city in California. The really good thing about it is the location. It is very close to everything. In only thirty minutes, you can get to the mountains such as Big Bear Mountain where skiing and beautiful scenery are present. In an hour to the west you can get to Los Angeles and some beaches. A little more time can get you to Las Vegas in the north or San Diego in the south. In the campus there is a lot of open space with a beautiful mountain scenery in the back. There are not that many buildings but they are constructing new ones every year. Right now they have almost completed the new politiacl science building and it looks really cool right now. Also, they just completed three new on-campus apartments. What I like about living on the campus is that when you walk out of your room, most likely it will take only a minute to get to your class since it is so close. There are many things to do on campus such as clubs and movie nights. I myself joined a fraternity and it was one of the best things I have ever done. There are many people to meet and I had no problems getting to know people plus they have events to help people to get to know eachother. The classes are always good because they fit my schedule for work and other stuff. The teachers are always helpful and nice and will make time to help me get better grades. If that doesn't help there is a tutoring office that helps you learn the subject. There are also many jobs in the campus that can help and I have two jobs that I'm still working in. The best thing about the school has to be the cost and my first year of tuition, books, meals, and housing, it only cost me just under $7,000 and compare to some of the other schools that my friends go to. This was one of the cheapest schools that I have ever seen. So please consider going to Cal State San Bernardino. The place has greatly improved and it is a lot better than you think.
