I have been at Franklin Pierce College for 3 years now, and if I have ever seen a perfect example of false advertising, it is here. This school in itself is more image conscious than the entire of cast of Beverly Hill 90210. Well, when it really counts anyway.

There are 4 times a year when things temporarily change around here. Those times are: Open house (spring and fall), Parents weekend, and Alumni weekend. During those times, this is the most beautiful campus you will ever see. The trees are trimmed in all the right places, the lawn is nicely mowed, there's not one piece of litter on the ground, and I think they even pay off mother nature to spruce up the foliage. As far as the cafeteria goes during these 4 times a year, we eat like kings. There are healthy dishes and incredible variety. The lettuce in the salad bar is actually green and the meat in the sandwich bar isn't. Conveniently, there are always events, athletic and otherwise, strategically scheduled to keep everyone entertained.
But remember, you heard it heard it here first, newcomers beware, things aren't always what they seem. As soon as the alumni, parents, and potential students have vacated the premises, reality slowly settles back in. The worst reality, of course, is the cafe food goes back to... well, I was going to say normal, but only if you consider it normal that everything is cooked in grease and has onions for flavoring. Ick. Of course, the events slow down to a dead stop, except for the occasional women's soccer game (which no one really has to go to because, honestly people, their gonna win whether you're there or not). And as for mother nature, the woman has a sick sense of humor. Because there are three seasons here in Rindge, spring, fall, and blizzard. Just a little warning, a word from the wise. Incoming freshman and potentials, be prepared, because like I said before, things aren't always as they seem.
