| Ms.Reid's Full Review: Humboldt State University |
I have just recently begun attending Humboldt State University (HUS) as a Junior in January 2000 and I am really enjoying myself. My brother graduated from HSU about a year and a half ago with a BA in Psychology. I had gone to the Junior College very close to HSU for my first two years of college, so I was fairly familiar with HSU when I began going there.
HSU is a wonderful school. I have greatly enjoyed my classes, which are fairly small in comparison to many I have had, and the atmosphere is great. HSU has great science program and scuba diving programs and teaching credential programs. I am a Social Science Education Major so I know little about the science programs, hopefully someone who know more about that will write something. However, from the people I have talked to in those majors, they really like the education they are getting and the many programs.
HSU has an atmosphere of its own. It has a strong environmental movement and the campus itself has one of the best recycling programs in the country and it has a house I think made by the club for "appropriate technology" that has a composting toilet and is run by environmentally safe means, like bicycle and solar power and gardens and such.
The tuition at this school I saw was not posted. I paid for in state tuition about $930.00 for this semester. I did not buy a parking pass however which would be a bit more.
That reminds me, I ride the bus to and from school (I live off campus) and it works very well. HSU has very little parking and it can be very competetive to get a spot between 9 in the morning and three in the afternoon.
I just wanted to give a brief positive view of HSU. I am happy with it and all the people I talk to or know who went there are pleased with it. As I begin to know the school and it programs a little better I will let you know in more specific catagories.
All in all a great experience for me. Oh yeah, and they have on of the best exchange programs out there, and cheapest.
