Many high school seniors are busy preparing for the future. Along with studying for finals, getting ready for prom, and waiting for graduation, looking for a good college is at the top of the list. And Marietta College can be a part of that list.
Marietta College is located in Marietta, Ohio--the first organized city of the Northwest Territory. Not only does the the town have a lot of history, but so does the college. What started as the one-building Muskingum College has become a major Liberal Arts college. This college has made US News and World Reports top 25 Regional Colleges list many times--a few times in the top ten!
That's not bad for a college that holds only over a thousand students. And that is the main reason I chose to go to Marietta College. The student/teacher ratio was the same as my high school's, so I expected a more "one-on-one" style of teaching. And I got it! I still live in Marietta, Ohio, and the professors who still teach here call me by my name when they see me.
But don't think that because Marietta College is small that it can't offer what the larger universities can in the way of extra-curricular activities. We've had speakers ranging from Dan Quayle to Norman Mailer appear here, and recently Marietta College hosted a Third Eye Blind/Tonic concert.
What more could any future college student ask for? Maybe you want to go to a big city and get lost in the shuffle of students. Or, if you want a quiet campus where everyone can get to know you, come to Marietta College. You'll be glad you did. I am.
