Great University with Accelerated Classes

The Bottom Line: Great school with satellite campus throughout the US. Convenient for working adults and military willing to commit the time to earn a degree. Accredited and competitive tuition rate.

I attended Park University from 2003-2006 and will earn my BS in Human Resource Management in Dec 2006. I have taken classes from both their Lackland AFB satellite campus and online classes. Eight week classes are offered for undergraduate programs at Park's extended campus and 16 weeks for the graduate program. Classes on accelerated programs are offered five times a year through Spr I & II, Summer, Fall I & II during weeknights and Saturday. The professors in my classes are employed full time in their respective disciplines and have an average work experience of 15 years. Most of them have been affiliated with the military so they understand the demand of being in the service and having a family. They use different teaching method so I was never bored. My online instructors demand regular participation on class discussion and all homework must be submitted on time. They always share real-world examples from their own working experience so learning materials are not just limited to books, power points,and articles. I had to take Business Communication classes as a pre-requisite for upper level courses (300-400 level) and the instructor, Ms Mills, was very helpful. She constantly gave constructive feedback and writing tips and I felt that this class prepares students on writing for civilian companies as most of my classmates are military.
The Principles of Management instructor at Lackland, Ms Chadwell, is also studying for the Doctor's program (like Ms Mills) and shared plenty of writing tips and work experience for students who are looking into graduate programs. These type of instructors make online learning great because the student receives the needed support for the challenge of distance learning.
Park really kept me motivated to finish my bachelor's degree and to even pursue my graduate degree in my chosen field. Their home campus is located in Parkville, MO in Kansas City area. The home campus offers more degrees than the satellite and online school including Nursing, Education, Engineering, Science, Humanities, Arts and many more. They also have study abroad programs for those who are interested in learning abroad. Tuition fee is discounted for military students and most students in satellite campus have company/military tuition assistance. The cost is not expensive at all for a private institution. I believe that Park is well known because they have campus throughout the United States and I have met many people outside the military who studied at Park. This is great if you are motivated to finish school while working because of accelerated classes but be prepared to work hard or school work will sneak up on you at the end of the term. They also have a strict attendance policy so plan to be in class on time because two late = 1 day of absence.
