The Politics Department is arguably the best in New England, and is quickly becoming one of the best in the Nation. In 1999, the school received a Federal grant to establish a New Hampshire Institute of politics.
Probably the most exciting benefit of being a Politics Major at Saint Anselm College is the New Hampshire Primaries. This year alone I have had a chance to meet every single major candidate for president, including George W. Bush and John McCain. Distinguished Political figures are always finding their way on campus. A couple of weeks ago I had dinner with the Philippine Ambassador to the United States! It's really remarkable.
The Professors are outstanding. Each of them teaches with his or her own flavor and is always willing to take time out of a busy schedule to talk to students. Some Professors offer a special program of studies, like the French retreat, where students who are financially capable to go on the trip head to France for a few weeks in the summer to study politics and meet international leaders.
The courses are excellent as well. I just took a really lousy course on Research Methods, but bad courses are one in a million in the Saint Anselm College Politics Department. One really great thing about learning politics at a Catholic school is that you are given an opportunity to study the relationship between religion and government, as in courses like "Catholicism and American Government".
The politics program at Saint Anselm College is great and keeps on getting better!
