The prospect of living in Dillard seems to many the equivalent of social death. Not so! I moved out to a single there in desperation after my roommates drove me insane. I have to say that it was 4 million percent better! I had my own space so I didn't have to worry about disturbing my roommates by leaving the lights on or singing or whatever came to mind. I wish I had moved out there years earlier!
I admit that having a car made things easier, but taking the bus would still have been well worth it. In fact, sometimes finding a parking space on campus was such a pain that I did take the bus voluntarily. (But that's another issue.)
Even eating is not an issue now that there is a food service station in the basement.
Basically what I'm saying is that moving out to Dillard was good for my mental well-being and my productivity, but did not impact the amount of time I spent with my friends at all. I HIGHLY recommend living in a single there!
