Pros:Good selection in all facilities, Decent quality
Cons:Poor service, Seems that the food service department doesn't think that it's here to support the students
USC Dining, it's a love/hate relationship.
More specifically, you love to hate them.
If there is one thing that can get my blood in a boil here, it's the quality (or lack thereof) of the food services here. I've been on meal plans for 3 years now, and every year it seems more and more ridiculous what happens.
For instance, this past Thanksgiving weekend, the Dining service took a holiday on Friday. There wasn't a SINGLE place to eat on campus. Now, when you're on a meal plan, you tend to use that as your means of eating. Basically, the food services slapped all the students that stayed on campus for Thanksgiving in the face by doing that.
But there's more. I've went to the main dining hall, for dinner, and the person that is supposed to be taking your money for your meal is either doing something else, or talking. And then when you ask them to do their job, they give you a dirty look, as if you SHOULDN'T be offended that you had to wait. And this happens quite often. Or I've spent 5-10 minutes trying to at Cafe '84 (one of the other "fast food" dining facilities) get a worker to stop what they're doing and get some more trays, because they're all out. Usually, that ends in failure.
On the plus side, however, there is a huge selection of foods for you to eat at the many on-campus facilities. Unfortunately, USC's idiotic policy of restricting the use of the Flex Meal Plan ($14.25/day on your ID for food) from 4-8 Sunday-Thursday to a few locations makes the selection a moot point for dinner.
People may remember the problems that USC had a few months ago with contracts for workers. I had no sympathy for them at all, primarily because of all of the poor service I have had with USC Dining Services.
