| w123benzman's Full Review: Cobra Electronics ESD 9200 Radar Detector |
My girlfriend uses this Cobra ESD 9200 Radar/laser detector and by all standards, it is a sub-par detector but does have some value. On the good side, this detector is very easy to live with and is a pleasure to use. It does not 'annoy' like most other detector with its alert pattern and produces almost NO false alerts. The only false alerting problem is with the VG-2 alert, which should be an option to shut off. The primary problem with this detector is the very limited range; X band is poor, K band is OK, and Ka band is weak, but I have not yet encountered a LASER detection. Most times when the detector is set off, trouble is (at best) a 1/4 mile away and sometimes with in clocking distance! So if you are one who uses the radar detector for 'in town' use to stay away from 10 MPH tickets, then the Cobra is for you. If you need real protection, buy a PASSPORT.
