Pros:Comfortable, Decent Sound when on low volume,
Cons:could be uncomfortable for some people, bass on high volume is distorted- a lil pricey.
The Bottom Line: For all you stylin people who don't like their bass thumpin' and their music loud- these are great for you.
The Sony MDR-G52LP, more commonly known as the wrap around headphones. The price for these are actually rather steep- $25 - $30. What I will tell you is if it is worth that high price, and if they're for you.
The "sound quality" part of this review is based on using a Diamond Rio PMP600 MP3 player, and a Sony WM-FX251 walkman, your results may be different depending on what audio device you are using. But these results should pretty much sum up overall performance more or less.
Sound Quality: Treble (high pitched)- These headphones leave out no squeak or screech, you can hear the treble with eye blinking accuracy. Listening to music loudly will probably make you blink or react when you hear the sharp drum beats, etc. from these headphones.
Sound Quality: Midrange - Although most headphones will provide you with decent- good midrange sound, these go above the limit and is flawless when it comes to midrange sounds, maybe it is the way Sony designed them, or maybe because it is wrapped onto your ear so tightly that you can't possibly miss any slight details.
Sound Quality: Bass - Smooth, flowing, and deep, it sounds as good as studio headphones- sound good? Well if it sounds too good to be true, that's because it is. Using the Rio PMP600 (see my epinion on that), the bass sounds good from volume settings 5 (audible)- 14 (loud), 15- 20 (max) sounds terribly distorted, and you can hear cracks in the bass, even with 192Kbps MP3s.
Comfortability: This really depends on the person, so I can only say what these fell like on me- I am small and skinny, and most headphones need to be set on the tightest fitting to fit me, but these are "one size fits all", and all I can say is, they sure do fit well. Your ear doesn't fatigue with long usage, and I can have them on all day. However, they may not be as pleasant on you as they are on me, so be wary.
overall- If you like your music loud, and like the bass to stay un-distorted, then these probably aren't for you, but if your someone who doesn't like their music loud, looking for a decent pair of comfortable headphones for a semi-decent price - then these are your pair.
