Pros: good sound, HDCD capabilities

Cons: noisy transport, slow disc change speed

I purchased this player two years ago, mainly because it has HDCD playback capabilities. The sound quality is truly stunning! However, after a few months the drawer started making noise. Then last week it failed to play an entire disc. My local repair shop said the optical mechanism needed replacement ($115) and with labor, the total bill would be $240.00. If the repair estimate was $75-$100, I could see fixing it. But as I only paid $299 for it originally, I decided to scrap it. I'm now looking at other brands. What is truly disappointing is that I loved the sound, it was truly smooth and analog-like. Good converters in this player!
