Great budget receiver!

Pros: Excellent value for the money! Plenty of A/V inputs!
Cons: Wattage is low. Remote not as forgiving as other units.
The Bottom Line: Excellent choice for the audiophile on a budget. Lots of A/V jacks! Needs more power. Poor remote control operation.

After blowing $200 on a used Pioneer receiver on eBay, and then having it blow up a week later; I decided it was time to purchase something new with a warranty!
The main reason for getting the used Pioneer in the first place was the number of A/V inputs it had in the back. (It had like 8 inputs!) That was the starting point for searching for a new reciever for me.
I purchased this AIWA model from Best Buy here in Sarasota. It has 3 A/V inputs and 3 or 4 (sorry it's not in front of me right now) standard audio (RCA Jack) inputs; almost as many as the Pioneer I bought. More than enough for all my stuff! Prior to this I had a bunch of those Radio Shack A/V switch boxes hooked into an old 1970's era Hitachi receiver with ONE Audio (AUX IN) input. (But it was MUCH louder than the AIWA.
I have only 2 real complaints about the unit....
First off, I would have liked more power; but I guess you can't really complain about it at that price. Second, I hate the fact that you have to be DEAD CENTER in front of the receiver in order for the remote to work. For some reason, if you're angled more than 10degrees or so away from the front of the unit, the remote stops working; darned annoying.
I believe that the AIWA unit was onsale at Best Buy for $130 or so. I decided to buy the extended warranty with the $$ that I saved. (I usually don't bother with them, but this one was like $20 for 5 years) Well now I can keep blowing up my receiver sky high until 2005, and it's covered!
