Pros: Great step into digital sound
Cons: none
The Bottom Line: Easy to set up, good sound, with plenty of inputs. Hard to beat the price in the 5.1, DTS lines of receivers.

| one_listen's Full Review: JVC RX-7000V Receiver |
There are so many good A/V receivers out there it can be hard to pick one. The JVC offers most of the standard options in this price range, including 3 s-video ins, and enough component inputs for most users. The JVC compulink is great if you have other JVC components. The remote is easy to use, and the on screen programming makes fine tuning surround settings easy.
There are a couple of downfalls. The sound is top rate; however with movies you really need to crank the volume to get room filling sound. I used this to replace a pioneer model without the 5.1, DTS features. The pioneer was only rated 80 watts but really seemed to pack a lot more punch. Also, there is only one user programmable equalizer setting, and the factory settings don't quite hit the mark for all of my musical tastes.
This is not the receiver for the home theater nut, but certainly covers all the bases for the average user.
