| rmjam19's Full Review: JVC RX-8000V 5.1 Channels Receiver |
I have owned this receiver for about two years now. It still works perfectly and I still have room to grow with all the inputs.
When I first purchased this receiver, I thought that it was probably overkill for my needs, but the more components I buy for it, the more I am enjoying all the options of inputs and setups. It powers the speakers at 100 watts per channel (x5) peak. It has 3 rear Optical Digital Inputs, and one Coaxial Digital Input. There are 6 RCA inputs for analog inputs of a DVD/SACD player, for high sound quality. On the front panel, 3 RCA inputs (Video, Audio L/R) and one S-Video input all the front. All of the RCA inputs are gold plated for clean connections.
This receiver turned out to have a lot more features than I was aware of! You can even set the rear delay on the rear surround speakers if you are sitting closer to the back than the front. If you are only using front speakers for the time being, it can simulate a surround sounds with only the 2 front speakers.
The JVC Compu-Link system works great so if you connect JVC components to this receiver, you will only need one remote. I have a JVC cd player hooked up to it, so I hit the "CD" button on the remote, and the receiver turns on and sets itself to the CD input, the CD player turns on and starts playing, all with the touch of one button!
At the time I purchased this, it was running for $399.99 at Circuit City, and had all the features of most of the receivers costing $100 more, that is why I chose it.
It wasn't too hard to get this receiver working out of the box when I hooked up a couple speakers to it, but as I got into more complicated setups(with 5.1 surround), I found the menu system to be a little more confusing and hard to figure out, but nothing a little help from the owner's manual couldn't help!
One thing I have yet to figure out is how to get the text display to work on this receiver (to view titles of cds) but no big deal. That and the non-intuitive menu system, are my only gripes about this receiver.
A very good value for under $300.
