Pros: Rich setup menu, dts is awesome. Excellent people having limited budget
Cons: blue L.E.D of multichannel MAY be distracting, a VERY LITTLE hissing (normal)
The Bottom Line: For the price required for it (which in Malta is even higher) it gives an excellent performance.
Always have, always will believe in Sony where it comes to electronics...

| crow2's Full Review: Sony STR-DE545 5.1 Channels Receiver |
I must admit that although it's not the best receiver around, for the money that one must pay for it, it is quite a high-quality receiver.
First of all i didn't find any tremendous hiss. I use cheap surround speakers (Sony SA-VE505). I avoided setting the speakers as micro and chose LARGE for the stereo speakers. (in terminal B i have two bookshelf speakers to help in midrange and bass of the left/right channels, therefore i could afford setting the system to LARGE). However, i don't know what result one can obtain if using high quality speakers (Bose IS NOT high quality by the way...)
The setup is quite rich. One can configure every minimal detail to obtain maximum performance. DTS/DD work excellent. Auto Format Decoding is available for all those wishing to listen to audio in the way the Director wanted, whilst having lots of DSP's from which to choose.
Treble/Bass are controlled by adding/deducting -6 to +6 dB whilst all the functions are digital (even the volume knob leads to a digital display).
There is also the option (dunno if available on other receivers) of choosing between small/large centre/surround spkrs (if the stereo are set up as large). I find it quite cool.
Well, i think that's all i have to say. I recommend this product even to audiophils who have limited budgets. I like it.
