| jdrum1's Full Review: KLH ASW10-100 Subwoofer Speaker |
I purchased my KLH sub almost a year ago. I got it to put it with my old setup that is now in my bedroom. I think I got mine cheaper then anybody else that reviewed it; $69 dollars at Sams Club. My current main system has a Paradigm PDR-12, so I did not need a large sub for my bedroom, I just wanted to get my huge old speakers out of there, so I needed a cheap sub. It was not even hooked up in the store, I figured not to expect much for the price, and if it was real bad I would take it back. I was really surprised at the sound from it. While it does not compare to my Paradigm, it is not too bad. The bass is clean and punchy, and it has much more power then I was expecting. I have even hooked it up to my main system to see what it can do. Again, it does not compare to the paradigm, but it does hold it's own against higher cost subs from well known brands. I liked it so much that I sugested to a freind that was building a low-cost home theater for an apartment. My only complaint is that the auto on/off is touchy. The volume has to be up some for it to come on, plus even at that level it might not stay on! I can deal with that for the price. I am concerned about the number of people with bad reviews for it. If I was getting it today I would not pay much more for it then I did after seeing the problems others have had with it. I would say that if you find it for under $100, go for it.
