| Dayna25's Full Review: KLH ASW10-100 Subwoofer Speaker |
In March of 1999 I purchased a 6 piece home audio surround sound speaker system with a 10 inch powered subwoofer. I was quite happy with the sound and performance of my theater system, for almost 12 months (woofer was covered with a 1 year Manufacture warranty) when one night I came home from work ready to relax to a good movie and great SFX. I powered up my Entertainment system and settled down ready to watch the movie, Then I heard it, NO BASS!!! My powered subwoofer would not turn on. That next weekend I went to the CIRCUIT CITY (FRESNO, CA) that I purchased them from seeking a replacement. (Here is the kicker) I purchased the additional Warranty supposedly covering me by the retailer for a year, When the subwoofer went out I was a few days shy of a year, but, Due to work and the like I was not able to get to the store until that weekend 2 days after their warranty expired. I was politely dished from salesman to supervisor to assistant Manager, and then the manager told me that even though I was a valued customer, (Due to the fact that I spent an additional $1500 when I bought the speaker set) They were sorry about my tough luck and that there was nothing they could do for me, but that they would like to keep me as customer and invited me to spend more money on a newer speaker set. I replied with a middle finger and left. I then tried to contact KLH directly on several occasions and I never got a response, I guess that if I had the time to constantly pursue this matter I could probably get a pro rated repair cost,Quoted to me by a KLH rep I was lucky enough to get in touch with on one of several calls made by myself to their Company in Southern California. I was told that this pro rated rate would include the cost of S&H, parts, and labor which would be pushing the 200 dollars I originally spent on the system. Ultimately, I will be buying a new speaker set making sure to pay close attention to the retailer and manufacturer customer service policies. I have come to the conclusion that Circuit City was eager to take my money but once they had it I was no longer a priority. This company will no longer get any more of my money and I have and will continue to discourage any of my friends and family from spending any of their money with this establishment as well. As for KLH, I have no desire to take any more chances with my money and will only purchase Brand Names such as Kenwood and Pioneer. I do not recommend doing business with either establishment, at least until they take the initiative to stand by their products.
