Pros: 10 foot cord, large adapter plug, mute button, look ok cosmetically.
Cons: a bit bulky, crappy BASS, strange head size adjustment, Made in China
The Bottom Line: Ok For price paid,(if you don't like bass). For most gamers and music listeners they are too weak. If they sounded like they looked I'd give a 5.

| mariusz106's Full Review: Aiwa HP-X222 Consumer Headphones |
I was doing some research to get a new pair of headphones and stumbled upon this site. I needed a new pair since my old ones(JVC HA-D500 made in Japan) were broken on a flight by my silly girlfriend, who pushed against the plug as they were plugged in. I guess maybe they are still fixable, but I'm not sure how. So I read some reviews, and after reading a few here, decided to check out prices on the web. Since prices were pretty much the same all over(+/- $2-$3) I figured I'd go to my local Best Buy and pick up a pair. It's much easier to return stuff that sucks to your local store than having to ship it back who knows where. So I got em home, plugged into the PC, and tried to see how far I could push them. Played some DIVX movies, some mp3's, some games, and here's what I came up with.
Comfort is ok. They are kinda big, but they are the closed type so this is how it is. The mute button is kinda cool, but it is silly on the other hand, since you can't really hear much outside of the headphones anyway. So if someone was talking to you, and telling you to push the button, you would still not hear them(unless they wave at you). I think it's a useless feature for all practical purposes. If you want to talk, just take off the darn headphones. If you're real lazy, then this feature is for you.(I hope you're not permanently glued to your desk chair, LOL) Next is the BASS which I turned up all the way on my PC(I have an Audigy Gamer sound card). I was disappointed not to hear very much BASS, even in songs which normally have tons of BASS through my Altec Lansing speakers(with a sub). I would think that closed headphones would blow my ears out with BASS(which is normally the case), but here I was deeply disappointed. The rest of the sound was pretty good, just lack of BASS(AIWA engineers take note!!!) Besides this, the cord is a generous 10 feet, or about 3 meters. I like long cords, since I prefer to sit farther away from the monitor(or stereo system). I was thinking of getting wireless, but I can't seem to accept the fact that those batteries have to be recharged and replaced every so often, so I tend to stick with cords. Next is the strange head size adjustment band. It works cool, as long as you don't adjust it while you wear it. Everything moves cool then. Problem is, you don't know how comfortable they will be until you put them on. Then when you try to adjust while they are on your head it's a nightmare. If they are too big you can't really adjust to make them smaller, and if they are too small, you have to pull down on the ear pieces to make them slide down. I guess if you're the only one wearing them then it's no big deal, adjust once and you're done, but if at least 2 people with different size heads wear them interchangeably, then it's a pain in the butt. They can hurt your ears a bit if you wear glasses since the earmuffs press on your ears and on the wire from your glasses.
There's an easy to seal box(if you want to return to the store). Made in China(Don't they make anything in Japan anymore!!!)
Hope this review helps you out in your buying decisions.
