Pros: 100 hours of music storage, inexpensive, USB connection
Cons: Requires Windows 98 Special Edition, too big to use while out running.
The Bottom Line: If you need tons of MP3 tunes, nothing beats the size, capacity, or price of the Archos Jukebox 6000.

| lynus's Full Review: Archos Jukebox Studio (20 GB) MP3 Player |
I wished the Archos Jukebox 6000 was around last Christmas for I would of asked for it, instead of the Rio 500. Besides being capable of handling approximately 100 hours of tunes, and being relatively small, the 6000 street price is only $350. $150 cheaper than the Nomad Jukebox and $250 cheaper than the PJB-100. Granted it is more expensive than the Rio, but I was a really good kid last year!
FEATURES
* The heart of the 6000 is a 6GB hard-drive capable of storing around 100 hours of music. More than enough for day trips, heck, more than enough for month long vacations.
* Smaller than the Nomad Jukebox and the PJB-100, although it's size is still much larger than other MP3 player. However, smaller MP3 players can normally only hold 32-64Megs, unlike the 6000 which holds 6Gigs.
* USB connection allows fast transfers between your computer and the player. Although USB is fast, to fill up the entire player may take a couple of hours.
* The player weighs in at 12 ounces, which does make it bulkier than most MP3 players which weigh normally less than 3 ounches. Because of it's size, the 6000 is better fitted for individuals who want a portable MP3 player without requiring it hold up during jogging or outdoor activities.
* The player supports ID3 tags which contain the titles of your songs and the player can scroll them in it's backlit display.
SETUP
The 6000 is very easy to set up. Just connect the USB cable to your computer and follow the onscreen instructions. Probably the hardest thing about setting up the 6000 is trying to locate enough MP3 files to take advantage of it's large hard-drive.
WHAT'S WRONG
The 6000 is only designed to work on computers that are running Windows 98 Special Edition and higher or Mac OS 8.6 and higher. Since most computers run just Windows 98 without the Special Edition you will need to make sure your computer is running the Special Edition and if not upgrade your computer before purchasing the 6000.
VALUE
For it's price and the amount of storage it holds, the 6000 is a great deal. You will need to weigh your needs before making an investment. I would recommend the player for music users who want to have a large amount of their music library while on the move. I wouldn't recommend the player for users who are looking to use the player while out jogging because of it's sheer size.
