| nickelzy's Full Review: Compaq iPAQ PA-1 (64 MB) MP3 Player |
To get to the point - in my opinion and for what I use the Compaq MP3 player for, its a great product and there isn't anything else on the market that I would rather have. Why? Because...
* Very light and compact
* Belt-Clip that actually works (I used the Nike MP3 player for a couple of days but each day while running it would slip off my shorts). This may not seem like a big deal - but if you are planning on using it while running or biking, this IS a big deal. It's the difference in breaking your MP3 player as it drops on the road and can be VERY annoying. I don't mean to beat this point in the ground - but if you want an MP3 player to use for on the go (running, biking, etc.), make sure you don't overlook this. I found this unit the best for my outdoor activities.
* It is NOT SDMI compliant (I think that's the acronym). Basically what this means is that you can download all MP3 music from the internet and play it on the Compaq. This was a HUGE deal for me and probably a lot of other people. DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE AND OVERLOOK THIS!! My friend bought a Sony MP3 player and after a few times of playing a song, the song wouldn't play anymore. There is some kind of block that prevents the song from playing. So all you could do is download your own cd's to the MP3 player. If you want to download music and play on the device - make sure it's not SDMI compliant!!
So, to sum it up... If you want the smallest and most compact MP3 player that works like a charm clipping on to your shorts and doesn't have a problem playing downloaded music from the internet - The Compaq iPaq is for you!
Now, keep in mind, that I would NEVER recommend this MP3 player to anyone who isn't wanting it for on-the-go activities such as running, walking, cycling, etc. If you just want a portable MP3 player, and size isn't a huge factor to you - then don't give this device nor any of the other MP3 players in its class another glance. I would highly recommend that you rather spend your time looking at some of the MP3 players that have 6 and even 20 GB hard drives. They have far more capabilities and can hold a ton more music. But, once again, if you want a work-out companion that plays downloaded music from the internet without any problems, then the Compaq iPaq may be for you.
