After looking at several MP3 players, I decided to buy the Compaq iPAQ Personal Audio Player PA-1. I not only liked how it looked, but I thought its size would be handy for taking to the gym.
I don't mind having to use the two 32 MB MMC cards that come with this unit. I do think the software that came with it is pretty useless though. I tried using the software several times to transfer music to my cards. It would lock up my computer. I finally had enough and decided to try using my Microsoft Media Player instead. Worked like a dream and I haven't used the software that came with my unit ever since.
Compaq has really outdone itself this time. This unit is so small and lightweight that I can put it in my purse and forget that it's there!!! It doesn't bother me in the least when I am working out and it sounds great. I have no skipping problems which is a bonus too. The only problem I have when working out with it is that sometimes I will want to skip a song and it will start to play the same song I was trying to skip again. The buttons can be a bit confusing when you're in a hurry to change a song.
Battery life isn't the best with this unit but it could be worse. I use my unit a few times a week and have to change the batteries every few weeks so I'm not going to complain too much. Having to take the belt clip off every time I do this though gets up my nose. Surely they could have come up with a better way of getting the batteries in and out.
Overall, I'd have to say that I love this MP3 Player. Sure, it has its points but I'd have to say that I am more than happy with the decision I made to buy it.
